I have an interview for a job in Dun Laoghaire and as rent is ridiculous at the moment I was hoping someone could suggest a good commuter spot just so I can plan ahead in advance - just in case ;)

Thanks - What about further afield - outside Dublin?

Further afield - train from Wexford/Louth direction or the M50/M11. Take your pick!

    Gorey.

Dublin and anywhere nearby rents are huge at the moment.

    Yes rents are ridiculous

Thanks for the replies. Gorey to Dun Laoghaire might actually work for me.

    Great stuff, thanks

Realise that you need to offset the price of rent against the cost (and time) of travel.

There are direct trains between Gorey and Dún Laoghaire. Timetable: http://www.irishrail.ie/media/08_dublin-rosslare.pdf Fares: https://www.railusers.ie/passenger_info/fare_calc_2018.php?station_from=GOREY&station_to=DLERY&stage1=Submit www.taxsaver.ie could save you about half of your fares.

There are several coach operators, including Bus Éireann and Wexford Bus, but they would be dropping you at Foxrock.

Consider Wicklow Town before Gorey - a lot closer but still much cheaper than anywhere in Dublin.

Thanks everyone. Now the interview is over I don't think I'll be heading there anytime soon. But thanks - Useful stuff in case I do
