    Hi
Can anyone recommend a dog behaviourist in Dublin (South).  I adopted a miniature schnauzer a year ago and she has issues with meeting other people esp men.  She tends to bark at people when the come to the house and when I go to visit people with her like my family who she well at this stage she still barks.  She barks if they get up or leave/enter the room no matter how long they are there so its not just when they arrive.  I'm not sure if its nerves or she's trying to protect me.
She doesn't do well when left with other people too but is fine when I leave her in the house on her own.  I've had her for a year but it hasn't improved over time so I think it's time to get a behaviourist in, can anyone recommend someone good?  There are so many out there and its not cheap to get someone in I want to make sure I get a good one :-)
Given she seems to have issues with men I'm wonder should I be looking for a male or female trainer?
    Thanks!

I'd opt for a female trainer if you know your dog is more worried about men... It's always better if the behaviourist can interact with the dog at some level! Schnauzers can be a bit excitable and bark, so you've a bit of genetics working against you, but no reason why you can't get some improvement anyway.
Right... APDT Ireland is a branch of an international group that certifies dog trainers... In Ireland and the UK the requirements are pretty stringent and every full member has been through a rigorous assessment process. They've got to be knowledgeable, but most importantly of all they have to adhere to evidence-led, dog-friendly methods.
Now, this is a trainer's association, but a number of their members also have behavioural qualifications too... You can go research them yourself, a firm favourite amongst users of this forum is Emmaline Duffy-Fallon, but you've also got a good number of good 'uns on the southside to choose from should Emmaline not be available.

Good luck with it all! :)
