When using these how far into the block must they go and how many per 8x4 board?

After 7 hours, pretty patient then..
Don't miss the fire requirement for at least two of the fixings, the number will depend on how good the wall is but usually 15 is enough.
If the wall is hollow block and you buy them too long then you will have hit and miss
