Problems with gear stick

    Hello,

no issues with my car last night but suddenly this morning, it was really difficult to move the gear stick into position. I had to put a lot of pressure to move it where as it usually glides into position. It was worse getting it into 1st and 2nd ear and seemed easier from 4th to 5th.

Will call garage this morning and see if I can get it booked in.

Does it sound like gearbox or clutch issue or simple fix as it works fine once in correct gear?

Had my NCT tomorrow too but just postponed and took hit on fee. I'd say I've no chance of passing.

    thanks :o:o:o

If insignia is same as vectra, its a 20 quid diy fix in most cases.

Different issue so. The one i refer to onlyvrelates to stiff gear lever. Not clutch or flywheel problems.

    Sorry,
I meant to say I dont think personally its a clutch issue on his.
She drives fine except the excessive vibration from the flywheel.

It’s 2006. Sound like a gearbox problem? Getting it looked at later..... if i can get it to the garage!

I dont know what gearbox the astra has but some of the vectras had a problem with the turret on top of the gearbox. A little pivot bearing becomes stiff and results is heavy gear lever.
There are diy rebuild kits available.
This gearbox.might not.even be fitted to astra. I dont know.
