I assume these vary brand by brand but is there such thing as a ballpark figure to be added to the list price? and what are the charges? Delivery? Metallic Paint?

Mid range car circa 30k. New.

    Varies between €500 & €1000.

Metallic paint is an extra with a price that varies by model, it hardly falls under 'dealer and related charges'.

Are you really talking about so-called 'delivery charges'?

Metallic is usually around €600-700 unless it's a special one which can be up to €1,500.

Delivery charges are usually between €775-1000.

It’s just an opportunity for dealers to make extra money, why the manufacturer doesn’t just include the metallic paint in the ex works price is beyond me.

The metallic paint cost should be included in the ex works price and then we can easily see the delivery costs.

Looking myself at the moment, difference is just shy of 2k. Ridiculous! Forgot to ask what price for a white car.

Metallic paint is always going to be an extra on midrange cars. You can get base colours at no extra cost, usually blue, red or white.
Dealer delivery charge covers delivery of car from supplier to dealer, dealer pre delivery inspection, reg plates, valet & usually a set of universal mats.

Metallic and paint is like an option. If I want a black car, I pay extra. Fair enough, but delivery charge is bull****.

I dont go in smyths store to buy xbox for 200eu and then pay 20eu on top of it for delivery expenses for them. If I order it online from a comfort of my home and get it delovered, then yeah, I pay delivery charge on that xbox.
I go to dealership to buy a car, not ordering it online. For 1000eu delivery charge I would expect it delivered to my doorstep with an expensive hooker for a few hours bundled in.

Ironically I wanted white. Due to white colour having a popular revival lately its not the "Standard" anymore, its red now, I wonder why.
Its a Metalic white one I had to buy. :pac:

I am thinking of contacting Hyundai Ireland to air my disgust at the additional charges. I wonder would they give me a breakdown of the charges?? I really like their car but I don't like being taken for a mug and I am seriously considering buying another brand.

Go to the Hyundai website and find the ex. Works price of the car and the cost of metallic paint. Add those together then take that figure away from the total retail price you have been quoted and that is the delivery charge.

From memory, retail delivery charges were high on Hyundai - circa 1,000 - 1,200.
