Hi all.. a friend has recently been prescribed a CPAP for sleep apnoea. It is very costly at over €100 per month so im wondering has anyone on here any experience or knowledge of same about schemes or claiming tax back or anything to reduce the cost?

I got a refurb unit. Bought it for €300 when I was still in Ireland. Got it about 22 months ago.

It is free on a medical card. If you dont have one, and are on other medication, there is a cap on medical bills after which you can claim the excess back.

Why not call Medicare and ask them. They are in Kilmacanogue.

It can be part of the drug repayments scheme. Worth it if they nerd other medication too. Rental of cpap and all other medication for the family will be capped at €134 a month.

Recommendations are to rent first as not everyone will take to it and in some instances its not needed long term.

Fair enough but you should know quick enough only took me a week or two to get used to it but I spent 6 or 7 months renting so that was money down the drain

Hi tnegun, I have just been diagnosed with osa and am pulling my hair out trying to find machine. Can you recommend. Doc says I must use auto adjusting.
    Thanks.

My uncle has one (free on medical card) and his is Phillips and got it from Air Liquide in association with Peamount Hospital.
Peamount always have reps from CPAP companies in situ if you needed to speak to one.
