Planning permission family flat

    Hi,

    Hoping someone can help me.

A neighbour's family member has submitted an application for planning permission under 'family flat'. However, having looked at the plans, they intend knocking part of existing house (nearly half) and building on a large single storey building in excess of 1500 sq ft. The original house is a small fraction of what the extension will be. Based on the publicly available information, the neighbour plans to reside in the original part of the house (i.e. The flat) and the family member and family will reside in new building.

The proposed structure will significantly impact on us and our privacy and will generally cause increase in daily disruption / noise as they also plan to park cars around the back (which will essentially be on the other side of our bedroom window which is back facing) - due to site layout (there will now be only approx 5 sq m between our bedroom window and the new structure). We are in the countryside.

Does anyone have experience if something like this could possibly be given the go ahead? I do not intend objecting as this is our home and I don't intend to burn any bridges. The plans were not discussed with us however prior to submission. I'm just trying to get an idea of what other people's experiences have been.

    Thanks in advance.
