Intermittent airbag light?

    Hi

I have an airbag warning light up on my dash of my 2010 Galaxy and I am due to do the NCT. I asked the garage to try to reset it and they said that it couldn't be reset and it would cost 900 euro + labour to fix. I know that the fault keeps appearing and disappearing and I assumed that it was an intermittent fault like a loose connection not 900 euro worth. I wonder if anyone could answer a few questions for me.
The light disappeared this evening on the way home from work after I popped into a shop for some things. After noticing that the light was gone, I pulled in and switched off the engine, the light stayed off when I restarted the engine. I tries it again further up the road but this time I unbuckled my seat belt. The light didn't go out this time when I restarted the car. Does an intermittent fault sound like loose connections?
When the garage checks out the fault on the computer, should they be able to see where the fault actually is?
I have read that the battery needs to be disconnected and car left for 30 minutes before doing anything, is there anything I should be aware of before disconnecting the battery, radio etc.?
Will I need to reset the system after I look for loose connections under the system, I seems to reset itself naturally, does it do that all the time?
Any help would be gratefully recieved
    Thanks in advance
    Frank

Check all connections under both front seats.

I took out the 2 front seats this morning and checked the connections, all seemed ok. I took a resistance measurement across the pin in the yellow connector, the driver side was about 2 ohms while the passenger side was less that 1 ohm. Those leads go to airbags in the side of the seat, is that right? Does anyone know the correct resistance that they should read?
Will VAG software allow me to check the error code on a 2010 galaxy?

HI. Airbag light is also on when seatbelt pre-tensioner is faulty (or there is connection problem)
radiocode will be handy after battery disconnection if done
