Doing the Orals as an External Candidate

Hi guys, so I am going to repeat the leaving cert as an External Candidate this year hopefully in my old school as it's the nearest exam centre for me. My question is, will I be notified or contacted by the SEC or the school when my oral is on the day? since I'm not attending any school or college but rather self-teaching at home and working. I am confused how it'll work.

The external examiner appointed to your school will be given your details as an external candidate along with the list of candidates in the school and will send you a letter advising you when the oral is on.

Thanks so much for your reply! Will I have to do the exams in the same room with the students of the school or will I be separated alone or be with other external candidates? this is regards to the written exams btw

You'll be in a room with other students. You'll be on the list of candidates for the school, just like on a school roll so you'll be put in with the other students. I think for external candidates (and I'm pretty sure you'll get a letter at some stage with details of your exams) you are asked to bring ID with you on the first day, so they know it's you taking the exam, mainly because not every external candidate is known to the school.

Most schools will have you in with the other students, unless they have an extraordinary number of externals.
