I have being working for the same company for 15 years in field sales . Its being a mix of good and bad years but always steady. its a family buisness. Last February we "re structured" because our MD wanted to cut costs and reduce the number of car etc. It went from 7 to 2.
I got a promotion with a moderate pay increase, promise of a bonus and a new car but my area double from 10 to 20 counties. He then went and hired two college grads in a van. Its being a tough year since with many customers reacting badly to the change. Last week my colleague handed in his notice because no bonus at Christmas. Our MD now wants to revert to 2 senior guys and keep 1 grad. He is offering me a new car but wants to reduce my salary..
Its all very stressful. Help and advice needed

Sorry i meant to say, the promise of a new car was made last year and never came through, "not in budget" blah blah,

at this stage i dont trust anything they promise and feel i was a dope. i am wondering it is legal to reduce my salary, should i go to a solicitor, !

Don't accept the new terms. You are already owed a car so why would you accept a pay reduction in exchange for a car.

It doesn't sound like the business you are working for is in a stable position, so many red flags. I'd start looking for a new job if I were you. It's likely you'll be forced to in the near future regardless when the company goes belly up, so best to get out ahead of it. In the mean time tell them you won't accept a salary cut.

Your salary is part of your contract. This cannot be changed without your agreement. Downside to not agreeing is that they let you go as part of the restructuring

Tread carefully.. But get your cv out there & look for a new job.

It looks like your company is going down the tubes and you could find yourself either out of a job or on drastically reduced terms soon. It's time to dust down your Cv and get out of there as soon as you can.
Can I mention one thing though? I'm not trying to be catty but your posts here are strewn with spelling and grammar errors. If they're not your strength, can you get someone to check over everything you write before you send them to prospective employers?

Thanks for the advice. Agree my spelling and grammar has always being terrible.
I am going to work on my CV and start looking.
