Could Condensate trap be causing pressure drop?

Hi, we had a long history of unexplained pressure dropping in our closed heating system. Oddly it stopped happening for about a year. It suddenly started up again a couple of days ago. Last week we had an oil leak at our fire safety valve on the outside of the boiler, the plumber replaced that. He says our Condensate trap needs replacing (the white pipe that now has steam comes out of at side of boiler). Can't understand why it's suddenly happening again.
Also, when I go to re-pressure it in the hotpress by opening the tap, the needle sort of jumps up very suddenly as if there is air in it...

    Both things are unconnected.

Of a bigger concern is that steam you mention. Those are poisonous gasses. Is it an outside boiler? Perhaps a pic might help?

Yes it's an outside boiler. We are getting it fixed in the next week. I've checked all the rads again, no leaks. Anyway the 'leak' didn't seem to cause any harm before so guess we will live with it again for a while. We have had several plumbers over the years and no cause was ever found.
