Which Airline to use. Dublin to Hong Kong

Any recommendations for an airline Dublin to Hong Kong.

Looking at Etihad because they use the same type of plane for Dublin to Abu Dhabi then Abu Dhabi to Hong Kong. Airbus 323.

Emirates use a Boeing 777 for the first half and a 380 for the second half.

    Both fly out of Dublin.

Is it a good idea flying to Abu Dhabi or Dubai with a break, rather than Dublin to London and London to Hong Kong?

We would probably treat ourselves to Business Class.

    Thanks

Emirates would be the winner for me, and the a380 is a great plane. My preference would be the break in Dubai as opposed to London. Think Cathay have a few planes on their European Hong Kong routes.

You could also go with Qatar airways, never flown them but heard good things

Thanks. I had a look at Cathay. They want €6,500 for two people return. Emirates €5200 and Etihad €4900. Business Class.

These prices are for flying out of Dublin. I have looked at a few prices like flying from Madrid or Budapest and they are much cheaper. We would make our own way to Madrid or Budapest. Unfortunately it can mean a long layover for the onward flight to HK.

Didn’t you check Ethiopian because they currently have a 10% off sale if booked through their new app, and they use Dreamliner on DUB-Addis Ababa

I flew with Swiss. They were very good and the planned stopover in Zurich allowed me time to visit the city. They fly from Dublin around lunchtime and out of Zurich around 10pm.

Cathay are doing direct flights from Dublin to HK starting June. I've done the trip many times in the past few years and usually just through Heathrow or Schipol (KLM).

Ethiopian airlines show a flight time of 35 hours for our dates in late April. Much too long a journey.

Unfortunately Cathay Pacific are only starting their Dublin flights on 2nd June.

    Thanks all.

Lots of people on here will totally disagree with me but I flew Air France via Cdg when I went to Hong Kong and it was great. I've done a fair bit of long haul via Paris and had next to no problems

Big gamble with their pretensity to strike.

Have a look at Finnair. Modern fleet for long haul, good value business class and Helsinki is an easy airport to transit.

Took this route when it was on sale for €280 return (!) - thought it was perfect as the times where ideal in and out. Service with Swiss is also great and the stopover in Zurich gives you enough wandering around time.

Yep, secretflying.com I got me and the wife for 303 euro each!

I have had a look at some of the airlines mentioned and their Business Class cabins are similar to Economy Class but with bigger seats. Not many have the 1 - 2 -1 seat configuration. Some even have a 2 - 3 - 2 configuration. I will probably never fly Business Class again so I am looking for the bigger planes with lots of room. Thanks

Emirates have 1-2-1 on the A380 but 2-3-2 on the 777. Finnair have 1-2-1 on the A350 but DUB-HEL is pretty basic. Swiss had 1-2-1 longhaul the last time I flew with them.
