I cant find this online. Does anyone know how much new Rolex watches ( mainly interested in explorer 2 and submariner) were selling for in 2013, 2008, 2003, 1998, 1993, 1988 etc?

I saw a post on another forum, where a guy was saying his Rolexs are worth much more now than when he bought them.

E Bay is full of 1995 - 2005 explorers for 5-6k. What might they have been bought for?

    Thanks for any help

I think there was 5-7% price increase for Rolex in the last couple of years. I know that a non-date sub had an RRP of EUR6,700 a couple of years ago anyway. Can't tell you about earlier new prices, but I've certainly noticed an increase in second hand values. The Explorer II (42mm) probably fetches up to £1K more than it did a short while ago. Pretty sure I saw some subs with pretty complete sets going for less than £4K. Doubt you'll find many like that now.

Thanks for reply. Yes, surprised at how close the cost of a 20 year old watch to the retail price of a brand new one.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

In the 50s they were about $100 brand new :)

Was a popular buy with US soldiers stationed in Germany, maybe they got it even cheaper?

So nobody from the boards watch community has bought a new Rolex in the last 20 years. Shame for me and my curiosity.

Bought a SS Daytona in early 2006. I paid around €6,500. Think RRP on the current model is around €12k.
