    Hi all wise bikers,
I have completed my bike theory test and am trying to find a IBT course in Waterford that does a 125 automatic scooter course as have driven twist and go in Asia for past 3 years,no licence of course as none needed, but now back home and have to get from A-B.
Does all IBT courses in A1 category have to be manual ? Never driven a manual and quite happy with auto.Is there any place that A1 can be done on auto and if not why not?
    Regards
    Disgruntled waterford

There is no IBT for scooters, you have to do a minimum of four modules including use of gears.

Once your IBT is done you can buy a scooter and ride it until your test, and do your test on an auto, then your licence with be restricted to auto machines.

Yes you can do IBT for any category of scooter or motorcycle with automatic or manual transmission.

Thanks guys, Im a little clearer on situation now.
So its bite the bullet and do IBT on gear bike which ive never done before,as cant seem to find anyone in this neck of woods that have automatic.
Is it normal to do IBT without ever riding a manual?

I did the IBT without ever riding any motorbike!

Since you have to do the same number of hours regardless, you may as well do it on a machine different from what you're used to, particularly given that you have some skills already.

That's the best thing about the IBT, jumping on a couple of different bikes and seeing how they feel.

Agree all the way - it's simply a learnable skill and it's practically the same effort for the smallest to the biggest bike so people should just get over the psychological barriers and avoid restrictions. You'll thank yourself later.

The important point is that schools will train you on a variety of bikes will provide a bike to you to pass your test if required. This means you can buy whatever you like.
