    Hi,

If I am crossing the city by Luas, from Saggart to Dundrum, do I Tag Off when I arrive at Abbey Street & then Tag On again for the green line to Dundrum?

Or do I just Tag On once at Saggart & then Tag Off when I reach Dundrum?

    Rgds

You can do either, makes no difference.

How long from saggart to connolly approx? I can see it's around 35 from red cow to connolly

I would have thought that was a lot more expensive?

There's a question in the FAQ (2nd last one) that would seem to indicate you need to touch on/off for each separate leg of the journey:
What happens if I Touch On before and Touch Off after my 1st tram then Touch On before my 2nd tram but forget to Touch Off after my 2nd tram?
In this case, you will have Touched On for the 2nd part of your trip but not Touched Off. The same thing happens as happens now. If you Touch On before a tram trip but forget to Touch Off after that trip you will automatically be charged the maximum 5-8 Zones Leap Card fare; peak or off peak depending on the time of the day

Thankfully the system is smart enough to only deduct a smaller initial amount (in fact the same as is refunded onto the card when you tag-off) in on the second tag on in this eventuality, meaning it works out the same as a through journey. However it does mean you can change your mind between stops and not have to go to one anyway to tag off.

There's also the timing issue - if you haven't tagged off after 90 minutes the system assumes you forgot and automatically charges the max fare. If it took you more than 90 minutes between taggings in Saggart and Dundrum then your tag off will be treated as another tag on and you will be charged again.

The journey planner suggests it'll take 75-85 minutes to do your trip so you are not leaving yourself much room for error if you don't tag off in the city centre.
