Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Planning a family trip with two active kids this august.
Staying on french side near the lake.
Are we mad, is it very expensive there and are there lots to do for kids, us that wont break the bank Swiss style etc.

I know geneva will be expensive but is it a cool area ?

I was in Montreux on the french side of Lake Geneva for a few days, Most expensive place I have ever visited.

Basic, and i mean basic hotel was €480 per person for 4 nights, with 3 people in the room, one on a sofa bed.

If we wanted a fridge it was €25 extra per day.

A big mac in mcdonalds was €10, just the burger, no chips. 6 mcnuggets €8.50

Meal in a cheap restaurant for two people (no drinks), €160.

Cheapest beer was €9 (in a casino), can of coke around €3.50/€4, Night life isn't great, There was nothing for children. After going out the first night and walking around looking for a reasonably priced bar and failing, we ended up going to the local supermarket buying cans and drinking them on the shore of the lake (perfectly legal over there).

Area is absolutely beautiful and tourists receive a free public transport card from their hotel. But never again at those prices.

Yes i think you are absolutely insane to go there with two kids. Ice cream alone will probably set you back €30 per day
