pension and tax

    HI,

    i have a pension from a job i had a few years ago not much in it but i can claim a lump sum from this soon if i want .

    my question is will i have to pay tax on this lump sum if i take it, i do my years end return every year so i if do pay tax what section on yearly tax return do i have to fill it on.

    You should check with the pension provider as this may be a tax free lump sum. They would be able to tell you whether it’s taxable or not and then you would just input it in the relevant section and be taxed accordingly.
