    Hi.
I have a trailer. Lights on trailer work fine when plugged Into another car. When plugged into mine though they don't work. Firstly, it's hard to get the plug into the socket. 2ndly when it's in and I turn on lights or indicator or hazards, there is a clicky sort of noise coming from the car until I turn the indicator/ hazards off.
Brought it to the garage the other day and the guy plugged in a tester and said everything was grand.
    But it's not...
Seems like the lights are trying to connect but failing.
    Any help appreciated.

Is the clicky noise coming from the boot?

Sounds like you have a faulty trailer socket relay in the car.

There is probably a relay box in there for the towbar electrics. Try it on a trailer board or another trailer.

So I since brought it to the crowd that put it in. I left it with him and when I came back he said someone must have messed with the wires but it's fixed now. Nobody ever messed with the wires.. I know that for a fact. I went home. Plugged in lighting board...nothing... plugged in an erde camping trailer ... nothing.
Brought it back..... ah he said the ground wire was '****'.... tightened that up and plugged in his own lighting board. It was working. I went on my way but when I tested the lighting boards x 2 at home, all the lights except the brake lights work. I know the boards are ok. Funny thing is though when I plug in the erde camping trailer with its inbuilt lights, they all work including the brake lights!. For completeness, the is an extra beeping noise I hear from the front seat when indicating or hazards when the trailer is plugged in but that might be meant to be there... nothing is easy is it..
