Fabia or Ford 1.0 3 cylnder engines

Online reviews of the new model Fabia seem to rate it very highly and they mostly recommend the 1.2 105hp TSI engine. I think the 1.0 mpi is lower powered. Haven't driven one so can't comment on how that engine is.

The Fiesta is a nice drive, but I've only driven the 1.2. One thing I remember reading is that a lot of the 1.0 ecoboost engines sold in Ireland was the lowest hp model, so check that out.

That's one thing you need to be aware of with petrol engines is that in the old days you could tell the outputs easier in that it went up in cc, 1.0l, 1.2l, 1.4l, etc. But nowadays they will have for examples 1.0l with different hp, 80hp, 100hp, 150hp, etc. And there can be issues with certain hp versions, while others can be trouble free.

There is a post on here recently where a car was sold to a boardsie with a different engine to the one advertised. I think it was an issue with import paperwork. But it does remind you that it is a good idea to ensure that the car you are buying has the engine that is advertised.

Hopefully you get some more specific info on here on these cars.

    Best of luck.

The rio and i20 have the wipers/lights the convenional way around. All new models in the last 10 years are like that.

If you’re looking for longevity it would forget the Fiesta and Fabia and just get an i20 or Rio.

The older 1.2 VW engine had it’s share of issues. The 1.25 in the Fiesta is a lovely engine but later ones were defined from 80 to 59bhp, presumably for emissions and as a result are slower than the 1.0 non turbo Fiesta.

I'd say that 65ps Fiesta is very sluggish. Fiesta needs a bit more power I think.

Yeah the 80hp 1.25 really suits the Fiesta. It would be a well proven engine.

The Fiesta was really sluggish and noisy and felt very cramped compared to the Fabia which I was very impressed with .

I also have a good deal on a 141 Ibiza 1.2 se 70 hp model with 35000k kliometers
I havent test driven it yet but it was very clean
would this be a better buy

I have'nt seen any in my travels . I really liked the fluence but the 1.5 diesel engine would probably be underworked with my low miles

Ibiza is a lovely nippy little motor to drive I have found. 70ps should be powerful enough for most
