Extending ceiling pendant light cables

    Hi all,

I currently have a pendant light in my living room (the standard 2-screw metallic version like https://www.lights4living.com/prodzoomimg26788.jpg)

I want to replace it with a Philips Hue ceiling lamp: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01L99H846/

which has a hole off-centre where you drag the power cables through:

Unfortunately the ceiling cables aren't long enough to reach into this hole, so what do I need to purchase to extend these cables and recommend anywhere reasonably priced in Dublin city centre to pick them up please?

As I'm installing it over a ceiling rose I'll need to get some nylon spacers as well as it's not a flush surface I'm screwing it into.

    cheers.

Drill a hole closer to the center for the cables.

Or get a connector block and extend the cables with new cable

    Both cheap and simple.

Turn off the power and check it's off

Cool sounds easy enough thanks. Now to solve how to stop my arms getting tired during the whole thing ;)

Can't drill hole in the centre unfortunately as there are electronics right smack in the middle on the underside.

I'm in Dublin city centre tomorrow and can pick up the cable and connector block. Lenehans cheapest enough?

Don't just turn off the power at the switch make sure you turn off the mcb or you could get a nice surprise off the neutrals
Make sure all connections are secure and no copper is showing after termination
