I got a flat on mine and didn’t have the lock nut key for it, so I brought it to a garage and they busted the 4 old ones on them and put 4 new ones on it with the key. It cost me 28 euro altogether for 4 new ones, the key and for the work that the garage done to break the old ones off and put on the new ones. Hope that helps!

€28 for everything? Or was it €28 per wheel? I was told today it would be €25 per wheel to remove them.
You seem to have a gotten a real bargain!

IF they’re the original dealer/manufacturer supplied nuts then a dealer will have the adaptors to take them off. There’s only a few combinations Ford use.

Not unless you have something very special. Some people have them for peace of mind too!

I always found them a pain. I took them off all family cars as no one is stealing standard wheels and tyres anymore

Don't kid yourself, they will try steal anything that has some sort of monetary value these days no matter how low. Locking nuts might not stop them but it might slow them down long enough to move onto another car.

Dont do it OP. Seriously. Unless you have something very special and expensive who is going to rob the rims off a Focus? Or any car for that matter. Its not a realistic scenario nowadays.
On the more practical side they are a bad idea too because tyre places don't deal with them correctly and a destroyed lock nut is very very difficult to get off.

My car came with them from factory and my mechanic advised me to get rid.

Go onto donedeal and see the state of some of the stuff including alloy wheels, tyres, etc for sale. As I said, if they can get any sort of money for them they will steal them. If they got €50 for a set of manky Focus alloy wheels, it's €50 they didn't have yesterday.

As a tyre fitter I'd say bin the lock nuts unless you've really something desirable on there. Easily 1 in 5 jobs im called out too haven't got the lock nut key, they are nothing but hassle for the ordinary joe soap. The chances of your car being stolen are far greater then just your wheels being robbed.

Suppose it depends where you live.

It'd be easier to work for a few hours in a shop to get €50 than going through all that hassle of robbing wheels in the middle of the night, transporting them, trying to sell which may or may not succeed not even mentioning the risk of getting caught.

Unless you're living in a really bad area I'd say the risk is minimal. And even then they'd probably just take the entire car and wreck it.
