    Try boiling a kettle and pouring it directly down the drain from a height. No need to dissassemble anything and often works via a combination of heat and pressure.

    When you are using the plunger or pump, use a cork or a squash ball to seal the overflow hole up, it makes a big difference to the amount of pressure you can push and pull through the trap.
    Hot water works best, not boiling just hot like 50-60°C

    I don't have one like that on my sink, I use it mainly on the shower where I can't easily get to the trap even if I wanted to.

    Like CJHaugehy says, use good hot water, not boiling, and fill another container with it. Suck up a plunger full and squirt down the plughole. You may have to do this several times before it has the desired effect.
