    Hello,
What would be a good daily rate for Snr Desktop support role. I’ve been offered 220€, does that seem right or should I ask for more and how much can I ask (240, 250, 260 ?) the agency will set up an umbrella company for me. 6 months contract renewable, office based but travel to EU involved as well
    Thank you

in my experience anything above 190 - 200 is good for senior desktop role.
typical desktop support would be 150 to 170

also as for the umbrella company, dont pay anything more than 100 euro a month.

The job is for Snr Desktop support, kind of tech lead of a team of 6 other engineer, SCCM admin and travel to do some upgrades across Europe.
Currently on a perm job doing the same thing but being made redundant so looking for a new role. Was not really interested by a contractor role initially but this role came up and there is a possibility to become permanent after a while (1 year maybe) so might be worth considering

seen as your heading into level 3 area with sccm admin, 250 would be more correct, anywhere between 250 to 300 would be good.
even a perm level 3 sys admin role would be pulling between 45k to 55k
there was a managed services company recently looking for a sys admin offering the above.

I also wouldnt get too attached to the posibility of permanent promise, its used as enticement to get contractors in the door.

there is no way you get that amount for level 3.
not unless you were coming in with pages and pages of certs and settings it all up from scratch.

The agency said that they will set up the umbrella company for me, am I obliged to go with them or can I set up my own umbrella company if I find a cheaper fee somewhere else for ex?

Keep an eye on how much the agency want from your employer if they want you permanent...

How do I find out how much the company pays the agency ? They are acting as the middle man here and surely they will make money on it ... they charge me for the umbrella company and they also probably take a percentage of my “real” daily rate paid by the company which is clearly not 220 I suppose...

i think its cheaper to go with an accountant, theres a company called tandem that I used before, they charge 10% up to a maximum of 100 euro a month.

as for the agency, they are paid, for an agency, you can be sure they get about 50% of what you make, managed services usually get more toward equal to what you are making, but I wouldnt worry about what the agency are getting, think of how much you are receiving and if you are happy with that amount or not.

you have zero leverage over the company or agency on the deal between them and prices paid. you can only ask for more yourself.
you have no bargaining power to say give the agency so much less and give it to me.
