Amazon, large items & AddressPal

I bought a TV on Amazon Warehouse and ordered it to be shipped via AddressPal for home delivery. Amazon cancelled the order saying they couldn't arrange shipping for a (40") TV but they had no more information on the exact nature of the shipping issue.

Has anyone successfully ordered something large from Amazon and had it shipped via AddressPal either for home or post office collection? I don't want to go through the same process again - order something then nearly 2 weeks later to see the order cancelled with no notification and only then being told the item couldn't be shipped.

The item fell comfortably within the dimensions specified by AddressPal for home delivery but would have been charged as an oversized item for post office collection. I'm wondering given all the complaints over charges for oversized items and/or AddressPal rejecting some large items as being too big Amazon can't or won't deliver certain items to AddressPal.

The second question is on the contract itself. The item was not priced wrongly and Amazon accepted the order and debited my card almost immediately. Their order emails always state "Your contract to purchase these items is not complete until we send you an e-mail notifying you that the items have been dispatched", does that apply when they take payment from your card at the time of purchase 10 days previously? On the face of it this situation is a bit different to those occasions items are clearly priced wrongly. Amazon always provide excellent service so I'm not unhappy with them just curious if I pushed it would they be obliged to honour the original price. Just to be clear though it was a one-off item in Warehouse and they appear not to have the exact item still in stock at the same price. I've already accepted a lesser remedy from them.

They may be fed up with problems going in to the forwarders, with things going missing, or delayed. Especially when people find out that AddressPal's liability is limited to only €40...........

Amazon only authorises your card prior to dispatch, they don't actually process the charge until dispatch. So you were not charged.

The fact that you didn't get a dispatch confirmation email and they have not actually charged you means no contract was completed,

Amazon are will within their rights to cancel your order...after all you also agreed to their Conditions Of Sale agreeing that you understand they can do this.

Thanks. I already pointed this out above.
