I was wondering where to contact for bad quality of water. Recently the water mains was upgraded we are now left with undrinkable water and a smell of it in our showers and taps. Is this just a tempery  thing, due to treatment or is it an actuall pollution. Where do I report this

    Hi popsmar,

    Thank you for your query.

A Boil Water Notice was issued today for all areas served by Vartry Water Treatment Plant, which includes areas in Wicklow and Dublin.

Irish Water will liaise with the HSE with a view to having the Boil Water Notice removed as soon as possible. Irish Water are carrying out chlorine dosing on the supply today and have put in place a water sampling programme to test the chlorine levels in the impacted areas.

We have now updated our website with this notice, which you can view here.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Kind Regards,
    Siobhan
