    Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations on solicitors based in Dublin that can handle our mortgage switch economically.

I have been given prices from between €1,200 - €2,000. Anyone experience of better prices?

    Cheers

    €1,200-€2,000 doesn't seem unreasonable.

Anything significantly lower is suspiciously cheap.

If you don't want to pay for competent professional advice, you'll soon find out the value of competent professional advice.

Thanks for assuming I don't want to pay for Competent advice and your amazing generalisation that anything below the €1,200 is suspicious.

I have in the past paid for ''Competent legal advice'' yet the result was less than competent. So please excuse me for seeking a better deal for a fairly simple exchange.

My reason for starting this thread was to gain information on ''competent'' well-priced solicitors that others have had experience hence the word ''recommendations''.

In my search so far I have found solicitors that want to charge the same as if I was purchasing a house from a vendor and all that entails. So you can see what I would pose such a question.

    No need for that.

My comments were generalised and not having a go at you.

The piece range you've referred to seems reasonable and certainly nothing like what is ordinarily charged for a conveyance.

If you previously paid for professional legal services and they were not competent, you can complain to the law society or alternatively seek independent legal advice in relation to whether there was negligence on the party of the legal professional involved and whether there might be a remedy for any such negligence.

Lastly, recommendations for solicitors aren't allowed in this forum, so the best we can do is suggest that those pieces are reasonable and paying significantly less would cast doubt over the quality of the work as at a minimum, a certain amount of work is involved in these transactions.

The forum charter does not allow recommendations for solicitors.

    Thread closed.
