My sister was involved in a car accident where she damaged her shoulder 2 years ago which has yet to go to court, last week she fell down a steep step fracturing her arm coming out of a darkened cinema with no warning of step, she wonders if she could attend the same solicitor or even if she would be able to run two cases concurrently.

Of course she would be able to run two cases concurrently. Why not?

Indeed, it would be preferable to instruct the same solicitor so they can deal with any issues of duplication or overlap or exacerbation of injuries as that is an issue which may well arise.
