Last day worked

My last day worked was Friday Dec 22. No doubt many other people were in the same boat. Anyway, I thought I would be entitled to JSB thereafter.

What happened is that the employer used the fact that I had accrued holidays and plus the two bank holidays and wrote a letter saying I finished up on Sunday December 31st (yes, that is 9 days later).

I had considered my unused holidays and bank holidays to be entitlements that if I had finished at any other week, these holidays would be paid as part of the final payment (with the back week) - but the departure date would be the last day worked.

I mentioned this to the welfare person - but he has decided to use Jan 01. I can't blame him because the letter clearly states December 31st.

Any clarification would be appreciated. If you think I am being mean about this, remember it is worth more than 300 quid to me - if I am right. :)

I don't think the two are connected and in fact you are lucky as with waiting days you should have served more.

I’d Agree.. it doesn’t ask the last day paid for it asks the last day worked...

amtc, no need for waiting days served. I didn't leave by choice. It was just the end of a contract - with a really good company.

Tracy, can you let me know where it asks for the last day worked. I would love to be able to quote that.

Still waiting days before you can claim...i worked in dsp. But anyway worked out ok for you.

On the up1 form it does ask last date of employment. If I were you i would find out when the query day is in your office and ask to speak to a deciding officer.

Sound advice amtc. I will do that. Thanks.

Sounds like your employer made a mistake. The deciding officer can only make his decision on the info you provided.

If I were you I'd ask you employer to write a letter specifying your last day worked, and bring it to the welfare office. Hopefully that will suffice instead of a P45 with the correct date.

If your ex-employer paid you for days then SW won't pay for those same days.

So really SW pay from the lady day paid.
