Editing OS Maps

Hi, I downloaded the PDF planning pack from OSI with the urban place maps. I'm wondering how to edit the PDF's i.e. to show the site boundary in red and location of site notice etc?

I presume I can just print, draw in the relevant details and scan? But I've noticed that a lot of planning applications appear to have edited them digitally and am wondering how this is done?

I tried using Adode Acrobat Pro DC but it requests a password for the map which I don't have. Any ideas what can be used to draw/write on these maps?

You cannot do this. They are password protected and will
Not allow you to edit them.

    Is it for anplanning application?
If so, then you have to print 6 copies and manually mark each copy with location of site notice and site outline.

Other option, is to buy the digital version that you can input into AutoCAD and draw around it in there.

    Grand, thanks for that.

I will just print them, manually mark them up and scan them as I am doing the planning application online so presumably I don't need to mark up 6 copies for that?

You can usually edit pdf drawings in a vector based drawing app such as Adobe Illustrator. You can probably find a free vector drawing app online. I can’t guarantee it will work with your particular file but it’s worth a shot if you’re looking for a polished finish. If not, avoid learning curve and go manual route.

You can usually export the edited file as a pdf, dwg, jpg etc

If you have Photoshop or Illustrator they are ideal. There is the likes of GIMP which is essentially a free editing package.

Google "remove pdf password" and there is a few free password removers or print as pdf in windows.

Alternatively just print and draw the boundary in red and blue if necessary.

No, just the one copy. I assume it’s Dublin City Council.
