Health Insurance Allowance

    Hey all,
    Just wondering, If offered an allowance for healthcare cover, is it taxable - I assume yes?

    If your employer is paying your medical insurance policy for you, it will be put through payroll and paye tax, usc etc. will be deducted in the normal manner. There is a tax credit for medical insurance relief you can then claim towards this. You can claim this from Revenue.

    My employer gives me so much a month towards my private insurance, it is considered as income so I have to pay tax on it.
