lump on dogs knee

Last year in April my dog had an operation to remove two tumours on more or less his chest area. At the same time he also had a small infection on his paw that they thought originated from a grass seed or similar getting under his skin and infected. The tumour wounds healed perfectly and all well there but his paw ended up getting worse and worse trying lots of different antibiotics until a lab in England examined the infected tissue and only one antibiotics on a prolonged dose were found would make any difference.
Thankfully this worked and his paw healed and he is in great form.
Now for the problem: Yesterday after our walk within half an hour his paw on the exact same site had a ping pong ball sized lump. The skin is not broken and he is not in pain or bothered by it but I'm worried. Unfortunately I don't have the finances at the moment for another trip to the vet. I'm wondering would anyone have any experience of something like this. He is the best thing in my life I love him so much, He is eleven and full of life and really affectionate. Thanks for reading.

It might just be a cyst - Bailey has had one on his paw months and it doesn't cause him any bother so vet is happy to leave it for the time being until he's in for something else - he had a needle biopsy done to confirm it wasn't anything sinister though.. You could maybe try bathing it in warm water and Epsom salts until you can afford to go to the vet?

Tk123 thanks for taking the time to reply. My father has just called in for a visit and straight away he looked at him and said 'oh the poor baba has a cyst" so that has set my mind at ease. He literally just had that exact spot tested for cancerous cells about 6 month or less ago.

    Good outcome.

My Ruby is going into surgery to have her third Mass Cell Tumor removed in the morning, fingers crossed X
