HDMI and Direct Port

So to explain I have a monitor with Direct Port connection and a laptop with HDMI connection, Is it possible to connect these? I got a cable however it seems to work only uni-directional (ie from DP on laptop to HDMI on Monitor not HDMI on Laptop to DP on Monitor)

After looking on amazon these cables appear to be only uni directional, Does any one have an idea on getting it work from HDMI to DP?

I expect you are referring to Display Port.
HDMI out cannot provide the signals for DP in, so an active converter box is required between the two.
This is one such box (but there might well be cheaper and even more suitable boxes available)

I have USB C on the laptop too - so after doing a bit of reading I thinking a USB - C to displayport cable should do the job

If the USB-C port supports "DisplayPort Alternate Mode" then you should be fine.
(some don't apparently )
