Hey , so was just chating with plumber earlier about servicing and installs etc of oil boilers.. so my question is , do you have to be oftec registered to fill out boiler passports and return them to cover if there was any warranty issues later on ? Thanks

no you dont have to be oftec reg

the passport stipulates oftec reg or otherwise competent person

but by doing so you are undertaking that you are either of the above

    Thanks jim.
    Thats what i thought too.
So is there anything i can get in writing or something to show this .
I presume all manufacturers are happy with a competent person/ engineer ? Of course depending on the install being up to standards etc.. !!
    Cheers

its printed on the boiler passport so no need for anything in writing

but by undertaking the signing off of other peoples installs just make sure everything is up to standards

at the end of the day it will only be a problem when it becomes one

and you are after all signing off that all is in order

the usual culpits I find are remote acting fv not fitted and condensate pipe termination

its also in your hands for future service work with a new customer I usually advise a return visit in a years time and will contact them by text when service is due

Also put a printout of the emissions in with the passport.

Yep , i seen it tells you to fill out details and include the prinout . All that is no problem!
So is it just a matter of leaving it blank where it says “oftec reg no” ??

    Thanks
