SEAT Leon instrument cluster rebuild(?)

Wondering if folk can give me a pointer on where to go next with a problem I have with a 2004 SEAT Leon.

I've had lights staying faintly-on on the dash even when turned off and key out. Also intermittent faults with gauges and gauge illumination, and what brought things to a head was the immobiliser failing to disarm (Which on the SEAT Leon can be linked to failure of link between instrument cluster and rest of car).

Anyway, on some similar cars this can all be down to dry solder joints on connectors to the cluster. I removed cluster, desoldered and resoldered the connectors, but in the end no change at all (I was getting some help here: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=442175 in another thread I started).

Does anyone have any suggestions where I'd go next in tracking this down, or any other suggestion of active forums for SEAT/VAG DIY maintenance discussions on older cars?
