    Hi,

Would anyone here have an idea of how much the damage in the attached photos would cost to repair? I'd like to have a ballpark before going for a few quotes, just so I can make sure I'm not being fleeced! Thanks.

EDIT: The first photo shows the overview of the damage, the rest are close ups.

    Thanks

Whoops! Mods if this is better off in another part of the Motors forum, please move it. I don't intend this to be a DIY repair job :D

€6-750 main dealer. You've a bit of a kink in the quarter panel which makes it a bit more labour intensive.

The issue with bodywork is that you will always find someone who will do the work indefinitely cheaper and the people who generally seek the lowest price job don't appreciate the lack of quality that comes with it, yet still preach gospel that any job more expensive than that is robbery.

A fella in his shed will do that for €150. Will the finish be good? Not really. Do you care? Maybe not. And that's ok too.

    Hi Toyotafanboi,

Thanks for that. We would absolutely prefer a repair with someone reputable, rather than paying rock bottom. The reason I asked for an estimate is that we don't have a notion of what these things normally cost. We paid for scratch protection when purchasing the car, however this type of damage is not fully covered under the policy, but they can give us 250 towards it, so 750 would be fine.

    Thanks for help!

Your main problem is the metal panel damage over the bumper, this will likely require that entire panel to be sprayed so it blends in. If it was just the bumper €150, but for what's done I'd say could be as high as €750.

About €800. My car got similar damage I got repaired here in Dublin a few years ago, may not even have been as bad as your damage, and it cost that. You may get someone to do it a bit cheaper if you shop around. The other car / person who damaged my car paid for mine so I was not out of pocket. If you get someone with low overheads it will probably be cheaper.

I had very similar damage to my wife's car repaired last year, it cost €500 and the guy did a really good job. I thought it was a very fair price at the time.

How much do you pay for 'scratch protection'? Sounds like some bull**** add-on to squeeze more €€€ out of you.

Look up carcraft.ie based in dublin. On the website there is an option to send photos and they will get back to you with a quote. Dealt with them with wife's car recently, highly recommended with good competitive prices. Quoted us €280 for a bumper respray (151 Golf) wheres main dealer quoted €660.

Had something similar on mine, was 600 to fix from an Indy repair shop

We paid 300 for three years. They've agreed to repair two other scratches and contribute 250 towards the repair of this particular dent. We have found it handy for repairing any car park door dents etc that tend to be a nasty surprise when you arrive back! They just don't cover this damage as its across two panels.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have also emailed carcraft.

Anyone have the names of some good bodywork places in south Dublin.

The mother is after taking the whole side of her Yaris off the pillar in the drive, she only just bought it outright off pcp last month. I'd say the damage is easily 5x worse than op car, door is ****ed , quarter panel and arch destroyed and the edge of the bumper :(

ACE Autobody in Bray are very good.

Dennings crash repair off the M50 near Tallaght were recommended to me on this site some time ago. Never dealt with them so can't say if they are good but seem to have a decent reputation.

Sorry to hear that! That's really unfortunate and has probably taken the good out of paying the car off.

Here you go lads what you reckon the damage will be on this? Muse sorry for hijacking your thread

Does it have to be southside? If not, send those photos to carcraft.ie on their website for a quote. They do very good work.

When my car was crashed into last Sept the damage was similar to yours, the driver that hit me paid through his insurance and it came to €2500 through a main dealer.

I used carcraft some years ago for something similar. The repair itself seemed ok. But the paint job was off. There was a pink hue to it. When I flagged this to them they fobbed me off and said it needed time to fade in.

I took it to Ace Autobody in Bray who recognised it as a problem immediately. They did a perfect job on the respray. Car was like new again.

That's a whole side of the car respray IMO. €2k anyway.

Could someone please help? I got these two scratches yesterday while I was shopping in Supervalu... They're very small. I wonder how much would it cost to repair this... Don't think this is covered by insurance...

    My partner says 2000 euros

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 Noddy45

2000 euros??? thats nearly the price of another car!

    Forget that above comment.

Bring it to a few crash repair garages to take a look. They might be able to repair or make it less obvious depending how deep the scratch is. If the scratch is deep and it cannot be repaired then the whole door will need to be resprayed. How much you pay for a door to be resprayed depends on who you bring it to and the quality of the job you want. If it's a fairly new car then you could be talking about €400/€500 for a proper respray and blend into the rest of the car. If you want a cheap and cheerful not too fussy job done by a back street crash repair garage might be able to compound and touch it up so that it's only noticeable close up, again depends how deep the scratch is or how fussy you are.

    Ignore the €2,000 comment.

Hard to tell how deep them scratches are. They might buff/polish out

but if they won't any decent place that does bodywork should do it for €400 max. And even 400

is dear. I had the rear bumper on my car removed, resprayed and refitted for €250 recently.
