Buying from Australia?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has experience of buying from Australia? It's an ebay seller that has a bricks and mortar store who specialise in vintage watches and jewllery and checks out ok in terms of feedback. The auction is best offer and I can see from flippertools.com that the seller accepts offers around 20% below the BIN price, so this should mitigate the import costs a bit. It helps too the second hand value of this particular brand takes an absolute nosedive, but I like them :pac: Postage options are either Australia post courier or Fedex at 3 times the price. I'm unsure about the post option and how secure that might be (I'm mostly worried about receiving an empty box as the watch is reasonably pricey). Should I expect any surprises from Fedex apart from VAT+import duty+€20ish administration fee? Cheers.

If the seller checks out then I would not be too worried that he is in australia. A good seller is the most important thing.
You are budgeting for import costs and that is the big surprise that most don't account for.
Personally I would not be paying for fedex, standard parcel post does the job.

Only downside of buying from the other side of the world is the long wait for your new goodies to be delivered. I am waiting for a watch from Japan this last 2 weeks, beside myself with lack of patience!

Yes indeed, they are very much a marmite brand, either love them or hate them! Some of their designs are completely OTT, but the V12 and V8 models I think are pretty cool, especially the limited editions.
