Caustic Soda has solidified in sink drain

Hi. I had very slow drainage in my kitchen sink & poured caustic soda down to clear it. Sink completely blocked now & when I jiggled a knitting needle down it, I could feel the solidified crystals. Any ideas how I should proceed?

It's the bally ballyness of it that makes it all seem so bally bally.

Can you unscrew and remove the trap (wearing gloves)?

    Try a plunger on it...

Thanks Antoin. I really wanted to avoid doing that - I'm petrified I won't be able to replace it. At the moment I'm pouring kettle after kettle of boiling water down it. There seems to be a bit of movement now.

Please be really really careful if you are mixing hot water with caustic soda!

Please be even more careful if using a plunger and there is hot water and caustic soda involved.
