    Hello all,

Looking for lessons in the south dublin area. Got a set of clubs at the weekend Wilson x31's.

Have played only par 3 before for the laugh with friends but looking to get more serious. I can hit the ball at the moment at least but not consistently

Any tips on who to go to for value would be great.

    Cheers

My tip would be play 10 games of golf and have a bit of craic / get some kind of swing going, before you dive into lessons.

Some might say that if you don’t get lessons immediately you’ll develop bad habits etc but that’s not the case. Just whack the ball around. It’s giant pitch and putt.

Do get lessons later when you’re up and running.

I would say get the basics right, grip, alignment and getting into a reasonably sound position on back swing follow through etc. Don't get too technical early on though. As Shriekingsheet says go and play a bit and enjoy it. But i'd be of the opinion that lessons are important to start off on the right path.

I started as a complete beginner late last year. Got about 10 lessons to start off as I had no idea of grip or swing mechanics etc. I think this was worthwhile as if I had just gone out myself I would have either developed bad habits that I would then have to lose or be so bad that I would get demotivated. I'm now playing 9 holes about once a week and plan to get more lessons when I'm a bit more comfortable.

Got lessons in stepaside good range and found them very good.

Spawell driving range could be worth a look, they run 5 week beginner group lesson every month or 2 and cover all the basics.

Yes, evening course starting on Jan 22nd. Not sure who the pro is there are two coaches Hazel Kavanagh / Ross Young.

Think I may jump in on 22nd

What about Spawell pitch and putt, can you go around it on your own at the weekend or is it a bit busy?

was thinking of using the Spawell myself to brush up on my short game over the next few weekends. Has anyone ever played on it? I know its only a pitch and putt but is it well maintained?

It's a little longer than your average pitch n putt course. Decent course. I'd imagine this time of year it would be very wet.

cheers, ya id say this month is a write-off!! i am currently living next door to the place so hopefully ill get some use out of it in the coming months, anything 70/80 yards in is easily the worst aspect of my game...

Would it be very busy evening and weekends from the spring on?

Anyone any word on the proposal to close the place down in the future?

I had heard a rumour that the GAA were buying the site & were going to knock the whole place down to put in a new stadium.
