Can I apply for full licence test before completing all the mandatory lessons?

    Hi,
I have done with my 8 lessons and I am planning to take the remaining with some gaps as this will help me to get practice during the time. So, am I eligible for applying the test before completing the 12 lessons? Somewhere, I heard that its only mandate to complete all the classes before the test day.

You can apply for the test at any time but you won't be able to take it until you have completed the full training and waited for 6 months after receiving your first learner permit in that category. The RSA will accept your booking for the test but you won't be able to receive a test date until your lessons are complete.

That means, they wont count the waiting period as well?

    It's both.

The 6 months starts as soon as you're issued your permit. Separate to that, you must complete the lessons at your leisure.

You can apply at any time and you can take your lessons at any time but no actual test date (on the back of your previous 'test booking') will be issued until you have both boxes ticked. Lessons + 6mths.

Not trying to be snippy with the underlining, I'm just pointing out that there are two separate triggers at play regarding getting an actual 'test date', as opposed to 'test booking'.

I applied 2 months before my 6 months were up hoping to avoid the backlog as there was a 6/7-week waiting list. Unfortunately, when my 6 months were up I was put on the bottom of the queue - what RSA said when I rang up. So there is no benefit in applying early IMO.

That was my experience too when I applied for my bike test years ago. The 6 month rule was only just after starting and I applied just after I got my permit. I was in the 7th month when I actually took the test which wasn't too bad.
