As above, I'm looking for some information on the above, can you pick up saorview channels on it? What about BBC etc.? Is it worth the money?

I'm looking for something to eventually replace my sky subscription, I want to be able to pause live tv, as well as record, along with a decent selection of free sat channels, if this isn't the box for me can anyone point me in the direction of a different box? Thanks

The above box is s terrestrial only receiver with a 500gb internal harddrive it will be good for Saorview but you won't get any satellite channels on it.
If you're close to the border you will get the BBC's and ITV's etc on it.

All the reviews have been very good, as has been said it is a terrestrial receiver not a satellite receiver but that is a very good price for a top quality item, only drawback might be that being intended for the UK market the Saorview channels might be numered from 800 + and you may not be able to reorder them but it is still a very good price.

I have the previous model and have been using it fine in cork for the last three years to receive the saorview channels

yes the channels are numbered in the 800s and you cannot but them in order - but it has been rock solid in terms of reception and recording

    There is no series link.

However if you want a box to record the irish channels I would recommend it

The reason there is no series link is that RTE turned it off on non Saorview Approved equipment.

I have a Panasonic recorder that worked for years with series link .

    Typical RTE.

Agree both the pana and humax in the past had series link.

in addition I posted on a previous thread the humax has subtitles for saorview.

Either brand is excellent if one is looking to have a recorder for the irish terrestrial channels

For 99 euro you'd want to be an overspill area where you get both Freeview and Saorview.

The OP is looking for a box that has satellite and saorview.

There are many in the satellite and foreign satellite forum now that are 3 tuner e2 boxes for less than £99.
