    Hi

I'm just wondering about the testing of a 2008 reg vehicle that's 10 years old in April, was going to book NCT test early if it meant I'd get a 2 year disc, or is it possible to get a 2 year disc on a '08 car?

    Cheers

As far as I know if you book more then 90 days before its due you will get 2 years from the date you tested.
If you booked it for tomorrow and passed you should get it till January 2020 .

Mine is exactly same age and i just got it done early to get the 2 year test.
You need to have successfully passed the test more than 90 days early to get the 2 year test.

Cheers, it has to be more than 90 days? I thought you could only get NCT up until 90 days before due date. I need to book very soon

Does it have to be over 90 days? I thought it was 2 months or more early. NCT due on apr17th which is 98 days away I think

Car will need to pass nct before 17th janurary to get cert for 2 years to jan 2020
if it passes after 17th jan you will only get cert valid until 17th apr 2019

Cheers, do they go by date of first registration or date of last NCT pass?

If its before 17th of janurary its considered early voluntary testing so cert will be issed for 2 years from day it passes

i.e car passed on 15th January 2018 cert will be valid till 14th janurary 2020.

if it passed after 17th janurary its considered a standard periodical inspection and will work off date of first registration

i.e car passed janurary 20th 2018 cert will be issued till 17th april 2019

Cheers for info, so they go by the day and month date of last NCT and not by exactly 90 days over? Ie 28days Feb. Thanks

I'd be inclined to believe, that they might go by 90 days, therefore do your calculations, and ideally book test for early next week, as week after next might be too late.
