Freesat/Saorview TV - Now I need an aerial?

    Hi all
    I have an LG UH661V tv which I believe comes programmed with Saorview and Freesat (https://www.freesat.co.uk/help/setting-freesat-lg-tvs/).

    In order to start watching do I just need to get an aerial installed? Can anybody recommend someone in the Dublin area?

    You could try an internal antenna Works for me. Can even get away with using it in passive mode, though a signal booster might be necessary if you live in a very built up area.

    In most of the country, an aerial will only get you Saorview, which is just RTE, TV3 & TG4. For more channels you'll need to get Freesat up & running, & that means a satellite dish installed too.

    We got an LG television with Saorview last week.

    We didn't have an aerial. We thought the TV would miraculously 'make Saorview happen'. It didn't.

    So we bought an indoor aerial (like 'rabbit ears' sitting behind the TV).

    There's no need for a professional fitting. We live in the middle of nowhere and it worked just fine.

    Plug the aerial into the antenna socket on the back of the TV.

    When tuning the settings for Programme mode, you will find all the Irish stuff in 'antenna'.

    The Freeview UK stuff will come through as 'Satellite' when you plug the satellite cable into the other port on the back of the TV.

    Some of the high powered TV transmitters are in fairly isolated spots too. A set-top aerial is by no means guaranteed to provide acceptable reception for even a majority of people, never mind everyone.

    Agreed. But it's probably worth a shot before going external
