    currently my pc is running

    i7 3770k

    16gb ddr 3 ram 1600mhz

    z77 sabertooth mobo

    Bequiet Dark rock 2 cooler



    main use for pc is Gaming / Netflix / general internetting / some light cad work

    Those parts, no, still fine and will be for another while. To get a meaningful upgrade on that setup you'd need to be getting Coffee Lake i5 or Ryzen 7, not that cheap, either setup would cost you about €500+ for CPU, Board + RAM.

    What's your graphics card? Far more likely to be the bottleneck.

    originally when i built the system it has an Asus 670 Top which i later changed to an Asus 690 which i later changed to a Gigabyte 780ti and it currently has a Gigabyte 1080

    Is the CPU overclocked?

    Otherwise no, your machine is still good for years to come.
