A2W total cost to install

Currently building a house and was interested in a2w heat pump with underfloor heating and heat recovery.

I had heard that the a2w works out as around the same cost as an oil boiler with solar panels and a stove to comply with part L.

The first quote I've gotten for: Under Floor Heating Ground Floor Only, Daikin Altherma 14KW Low Temp Air/Water Split Heat Pump with 260 Litre integrated Domestic Hot Water Cylinder, Radiators upstairs, all Fully Installed and commissioned is €18,500.00 net cost.

The heat recovery system comes in at €5,000.00 net.

Does this seem reasonable to people who have gotten this before? I will get quotes from other suppliers for sure but just wondering peoples opinions on this, it's approx 2,500 square-foot house.

I can say your not far off the average mark.
I would push for UFH upstairs also.

Simple reason, you can move your furniture around as you please without avoiding radiators.
Its not a whole pile extra considering the cost of a house.

What size is house roughly? Price seems reasonable enough. They doing the sanitary end of things at that price?

Unfortunately putting UFH upstairs will raise the floor up too high so I don't have that option at this stage anymore, it's something I should've thought of at the start of the build.

mhrv is necessary no matter what heating systm you have unless you want to bore 6in holes in your walls for ventilation where you will never have a comfortably warm house.

I'll go out on a limb and say Air-tightness and MHRV are the best things to happen to the building industry in Ireland since the breakfast roll.

That size heat pump seems too big for the size of your build.

    circa 230m2 and a 14kw unit = 60w/m2

An A3 house with HRV would be easily half that load.

Have you a provisional BER done up yet?

Agreed on size of the pump. I have a 9kw pump and my house is 2650 sq ft. A2 rated house.

Agree 100% I fitted a MHRV system a few years ago to an existing house and the difference in comfort levels and Air Quality is great no more condensation on Bedroom Windows etc
