Dogs & Sheep

Not that someone should have to do this but would it be feasible for a large scale farmer to have a couple of shepherd dogs (eg Caucasian shepherd dogs) with the herd to protect from attacks the way they're used in the likes of Turkey.
It might sound overboard but would it be if it was your livelihood that was at risk?

Unfortunately one only has to look at recent Facebook posts to see the general public's lack of sympathy to the slaughter of sheep by dogs. A recent case involving Huskies and the onslaught of "sure the sheep will be killed anyway" comments.

Those large herding breeds are not for the faint hearted. They are normally kept in much more isolated areas then Ireland has where they won't come across people or responsible dog walkers etc. You don't really want to come across one with your small pet on a lead.

I hope none of the anti walker sheep farmers on benbulben read this, they might get ideas!
