Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey guys,

I am going to join the gym for next semester and was wondering when is the best time to go? First time being in a gym so am a bit self conscious and so would rather go when there's no one there lol. Thanks in advance!

It is pretty much constantly jammed tbh - early in the morning it is very busy with people going before work. 9-10am might be the best time as students start pouring in after that round 11 onwards or so.

Lunchtime is hectic and don't even think about any time after 4pm as you can barely find space to fit an exercise mat on the floor nevermind a free piece of equipment! If you are just using a treadmill etc. it might be a bit easier finding a machine but if you are using the weights, the place can often be dangerously overcrowded imo with people squished into tiny spaces and trying not to hit off each other with bars and dumbells.

The facility is great to have but nowhere near big enough for the population it serves - needs to be twice the size.

Edited to add: Don't be any way self-conscious, I know it is hard but honestly nobody will even notice you - most of them are too busy admiring themselves :D

I always found 10-1 pretty okay but this was back in 2014 just as gym culture was peaking, it's probably hit peak popularity right now so I'm guessing it's out the door 24/7. I hated being ushered to the Sports Gym, could never get my mojo there. Nothing beats doing raised legs pull ups in the main gym, made me look cut af.

I'd say early morning before lectures is best. That's what I usually do myself as I'd be self conscious aswell with crowds. Plus it's usually older people going before work.
Went once at about 11 and never again, absolutely jammed with girls with their tan and makeup on!
This morning between 6 and 7 it was lovely and quiet as usual, choice of machines and all that.

Article in the College Tribune highlighting how packed the classes are, also mentions planned expansions/development work but I imagine that's years off
