Illegal Baggage, How Did It Get On In The First Place?

    Watching some programs, customs and airport things, on the TV and see all sorts seized on landing, Weapons, drugs, cigarettes, contrabands, even live Animals, tried google to no avail!

    So how did such items get tho security when boarding in the first place?

    99% of it is in hold luggage which is not inspected to the same extent as hand baggage; or isn't illegal to board with - no law in most places against taking 20000 smokes with you, its the law of the destination country that stops it.

    As long as there is nothing dangerous or against security regulations on the flight, then it'll be taken.

    When you land, pick it up and try to walk through customs. Thats another matter.
