Avensis or Passat

    I had a 04 Petrol Avensis for years, and sold it 3 years ago for a 08 Diesel Passat. While i had the avensis, all i ever had to do with it was service it, and the "bushings"might go. I know the person who bought it from me, and it's still the same... never gave an ounce of trouble.
    However, I've had nothing but trouble with the Passat in the 3 years, from new fuel pump, brake callipers, the starter etc. I've at least €3k extra spent on it.
    Anyways, long story short...I'm changing again and was gonna go for a 10 Avensis diesel. But, someone tole me the newer model Passats are grand, and that it was just the model that I have that gave trouble in general. If this was true, I might consider the Passat, as they are that bit cheaper. Can anyone throw in their 2 cents...

    I just started a thread myself asking what 08 passats are like.
    Not a good start so.
    I have a 2003 one and love it. It has given me a bit of trouble but they are easy to fix and cheap. 203k miles on it and it boots along. A very comfortable car.

    Ya , mine had 220k on it 3 years ago, and 300k now. Maybe, i just got unlucky??

    Id say go avensis again ive a 12 diesel over 3 years and no problems whatsoever,like yourself had an 04 for over 7 years only needed servicing.
