Shower temperature sticking

    Hi
We've moved into a new house recently and we've noticed the temperature in the shower in the master bedroom can be difficult to adjust. There are two controls, the top one is to switch on, off and between the head and hand held. The bottom one is the temperature which is sticking a lot. You can press the button on it but it doesn't make much difference really. Is this a DIY job to fix or should I get a plumber to look at it?
    Thanks

I’d say it needs to be eased. Is there an Allen key hole underneath to be able to take knob off? Try get some silicone spray or WD40. Spray on and try to turn it a few times to ease it.

You might need to replace the cartridge

Behind the on / off dial is most likely a spindle

Behind the temperature dial is most likely a cartridge. Possibly a thermostatic cartridge. Quite often if it is sticking it needs replacing. It might also be stiff from lack of use.

Is there a make or manufacturer name on the shower?

Check the hose from shower to head.

If the hose is either tightened much or turned from use the inner twists and becomes blocked and stops good flow of water which then has it too hot and then cold.

If this is OK check the filter and run it just cold after for a minute.

Make sure valve is fully open.

i had a look to see if i could find the name of the manufacturer but no luck. its not a huge issue but we just can't get the full range of temperatures, it will go a bit hotter but it won't go in the cold direction at all.

punisher, it does have a loose shower head at the side but its never used.
