    Have a 2006 Audi a4 1.9 tdi
Boot lock won't close and the light is on in the dash flashing telling me boot isn't closed ? Is this a fail? A visual fail?

    Reasons for failure
Bonnet or boot catches defective or bonnet safety catch missing or defective
    A visual I'd say

Most likely a visual. Have you looked to see why it won't close?

Might be a bit of dirt or a small item stuck such as a tiny pebble down at the lock itself.

It sounds like this may be the issue.

    Also,

It seems that the latch needs to be lubricated..

    Found on Audi-sport.net.
I just got a chance to take off the lower bonnet latch, soaked it in degreaser repeatedly then drowned it in WD40 before working it with a pair of pliers until it was freely clicking back and forth again. Put it back on, dropped the bonnet from a few inches up and CLICK. Locked perfectly without any pressure from above. Cheers!
